The DC Casting Machine provided by Thermserve completed its first casting at the Advanced Metal Casting Centre (AMCC) today. The DC caster can produce 2m long billets up to 152 mm in diameter. Thermserve equipment, such as the DC Casting Machine, will be a crucial part of the setup in the 1500 m2 purpose-built building located at Brunel University in Uxbridge. The £17.4 million AMCC facility aims to bridge the gap between fundamental research and full-scale industrial trials. The new centre is jointly funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Brunel University with the support of Jaguar Land Rover and Constellium.
