Thermserve have commissioned its largest ever forge furnace, installed at the AFRC ( Advanced Form Research Centre – part of Strathclyde University). The furnace which is a key component in the forging cell known as the “Future Forge” allows for industrial size trials to be carried out in laboratory conditions. The furnace is gas fired, fitted with high efficiency burners and a state-of-the-art control system which allows for various combustion ratios to be configured to best suit the work in the furnace. With a maximum operating temperature of 1200C and a capacity of 3 Tonnes the furnace can preheat a wide variety of parts. Thermserve are also supplying an electrically heated furnace which sits in the same forging cell. It is expected to be commissioned in the coming months.
