Thermserve have recently completed the installation of heat treatment facility in the UK, consisting of a drop quench heat treatment furnace and an ageing oven. The system has been designed to meet the stringent requirements of AMS2750E. Primarily the package is to be used for heat treating aerospace castings which form part of a hydraulic actuator, however the client expects with this new equipment that they will also be able to offer additional product lines. Trial assembly of the equipment was completed within Thermserve’s facility in Telford allowing site installation time to be kept to a minimum. All stages of the build were controlled and managed following our ISO 9001:2008 accredited management system, also this contact was one of the first using a PC based contact tracking software aimed at ensuring all equipment is delivered from sub suppliers on time and in full allowing better management of multiple projects.

The system supplied operates fully automatically, once the parts basket is presented to the system a PLC manages the plant position, whilst Eurotherm instrumentation is used to manage the temperature profile. After the parts have been quenched and rinsed 2 baskets are loaded into the stand alone ageing. At full capacity the system can heat treat up to 5000 parts per year.

Thermserve have also recently been awarded contracts for the supply of two ageing ovens and handling systems.
